TFA Dostmann donates thermo-hygrometers to the Reinhardshof reception centre for refugees
Thermo-hygrometers from TFA Dostmann worth over 2.200 Euros were given to the Welcome to Wertheim Association at the reception centre last week for the indoor climate monitoring.
The donation is in cooperation with the Welcome to Wertheim Association and the devices are intended to support the refugees and workers alike by helping them to obtain proper ventilation and heating in refugee living areas for an optimal indoor climate. The monitoring of temperature and humidity makes it possible to precisely counteract the risk of mould formation.
The chairman of the Welcome to Wertheim club Walter Hörnig, the deputy head of the facility Dagmar Driewer and representatives of European Homecare - with director Lea Frank, accepted the donation from TFA employee Andreas Amend and were pleased with the fast and straightforward response and support.
Cook like a chef
With the Sousmatic from TFA you bring the sous-vide technique of the haute cuisine into your own kitchen.
Michelin-star chefs worldwide put their trust in this gentle cooking method to retain taste and flavour. Meat, fish or vegetables are sealed in a vacuum bag and cooked gently in a water bath at a constant low temperature, typically between 45 and 85 degrees Celsius. The food can be seasoned or have herbs added prior to cooking. This prevents moisture from escaping and everything comes out succulent, tender and perfectly cooked with a 100% guarantee of success.
Opening ceremony for the TFA Logistics Centre
After a construction period of just over nine months, the official opening ceremony for the new TFA Dostmann Logistics Centre took place on 31 July 2015 in the Wertheim district of Reinhardshof. The 18,000 square-metre site is now home to an imposing warehouse, of which the tallest column rises to a height of over 16 metres. With a usable floor space of 4,300 square metres on two storeys, the new site offers space for 5,300 pallets.
The process of moving the TFA goods from the six old warehouses is almost finished. However, the entire logistics centre is only scheduled to be completed by 2016. That is when the automatic carton warehouse will be commissioned and the customer service department will be further improved through optimised product availability and delivery capability.
The opening ceremony had a Bavarian theme and a good number of the 150 guests, most of whom are employees of Dostmann companies, turned up dressed for the occasion in dirndls, lederhosen and check shirts. They were given the chance to view the new warehouse in groups and were shown their new workspaces by the colleagues responsible. The impressive sprinkler system attracted a great deal of attention. The system, which has an installed line length of around five kilometres and can be activated in case of fire, ejects approximately 6,600 litres of water per minute from around 3,000 sprinkler heads.
Guests at the event were invited to take part in a number of traditional Bavarian activities, including log sawing, nail hammering and beer stein carrying, which meant there was plenty of fun to be had. Later in the day, there was a BBQ with Bavarian delicacies and accompanying live music for the guests’ enjoyment.
TFA SMARTHY App nominated for the German Design Award
The app for the TFA SMARTHY thermo-hygrometer has been nominated for the renowned design prize "German Design Award". Designed by Andreas Brückner, the app was proposed from the bodies of the German Design Council, which for more than 60 years represents the international design scene in Germany. The award ceremony will take place in the context of the international trade fair Ambiente 2016 in Frankfurt.
Groundbreaking ceremony for the new TFA Logistics Centre
On 2 September shortly after 11.00am, managing directors Heinz and Axel Dostmann turned the symbolic first sod at Wertheimer Reinhardshof as part of a groundbreaking ceremony. By early 2015, the 18,000 square-metre site will be home to a new warehouse. The entire Logistics Centre is scheduled to be completed by 2016. As a result, the company’s customer service will be further improved by optimised product availability and delivery capability.
With spades at the ready, local mayor Wolfgang Stein, architect Heiko Dosch and further representatives of the town, the Volksbank (cooperative bank) and the commissioned construction company were also there to take part in the ceremony. According to managing director Axel Dostmann, the realisation of the project should finally solve the shortage of space at the company’s headquarters in Reicholzheim and minimise the daily in-house freight traffic to the company’s many external warehouses.
A developed area of 3,250 square metres will create space for around 4,400 pallets and 9,000 cartons. The 10 work stations in goods receiving, commissioning and shipping are designed in an ergonomic and user-friendly way. “Over the long term, our old site is not able to meet our customers’ requirements for even faster delivery and more extensive automatic information regarding the order and shipment of goods,” explained Axel Dostmann in a brief address to the guests gathered at the construction site. “In our anniversary year, we want to make an investment for the future with this project.”
„KlimaLogg Pro“ software now upgraded with new diagram function:
Developed by TFA-Dostmann, the “KlimaLogg Pro” (cat.no. 30.3039.IT) has become firmly established in the market.
The main use of the logger is to monitor the indoor climate. Nowadays, it is also considered to be a reliable and helpful tool for a number of other areas of application, for example for monitoring terraria and aquaria, conservatories and greenhouses and controlling refrigeration equipment in pharmacies and laboratories.
Due to popular demand, we have now upgraded the PC software to include a diagram function. This feature enables “KlimaLogg Pro” software users to evaluate their records even faster and with more detail in the future. The new software version is now available free of charge for all current and future users of “KlimaLogg Pro” in the download area of our website.
50th anniversary celebrations kick off:
TFA employees attend a cheerful summer party in the new “TFA jersey”. Because each and every TFA Dostmann employee has worked together as part of a highly committed and successful team to make the company what it is today. And luckily for us, as you would expect from a weather specialist, the weather was fine. TFA’s trainees had prepared a quiz with lots of exciting activities, which made for a lot of fun and laughter as teams competed against each other. This was followed by an enjoyable group BBQ with cold drinks.
New TFA Trade Fair Stand:
We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our new TFA trade-fair stand this year. The dress rehearsal was outstandingly successful. “Our new trade-fair stand has been very well received” reports TFA managing director Axel Dostmann, who is delighted about the positive feedback to its first appearance at this year’s PSI Trade Fair in Düsseldorf.
Despite having a modern and tidy look, the trade-fair stand offers many possibilities for effective product presentation. An arena forms the central focal point of the concept and is created through an interesting use of space. Visitors to the trade fair can look at the newest TFA products, both from the inside and also from the outside. The exhibition space is supplemented by both hanging and wall units. The new trade-fair stand can be seen next at Frankfurt’s Ambiente from 7th -11th February.
TFA in action: TFA fridge-freezer thermometer taken on the 23 day “Mission Icefox” expedition.
author: Mike Fuchs, www.mikefuchs-fotografie.de
An expedition to Spitsbergen, Norway, which is one of the earth’s most northerly regions (1000 km from the North Pole), would be an extreme test for any equipment particularly when it has to be manhandled on sledges over harsh arctic terrain in extreme temperatures. Essential equipment taken by Eric Folz and Mike Fuchs on ‘Mission Icefox’ were two Pulka sledges, hi-tech tent, bear fence, a lot of tea, and precautionary gun, pepper spray and distress flair. Surprisingly an item the team also took with them was a TFA fridge-freezer thermometer (model number 14.4003.02.01) which reliably measures temperatures down to -40° C.
Radio controlled hologram clock: Fascinating 3-D effect
The HOLOclock by TFA creates a truly amazing effect. The display appears like a 3-dimensional image suspended in midair just above the HOLOclock console.
This effect is created by advanced patented optics via reflections and light refraction produced by a beam splitter lens. The HOLOclock can display either time, date and room temperature, or if preferred an automatic display change between time, date and temperature. There is a choice of four brightness levels. In addition, the illumination intensity will automatically adjust according to the room light conditions. Power is supplied via mains adapter.

Big surprise win for Johannes Moldan from Wertheim/Germany in the TriStar111Monaco
There was a big surprise in the TriStar111 Monaco: 23-year-old Johannes Moldan from Wertheim/Germany took the victory in a tough and vibrant race, followed by the young Italian Rodolphe Von Berg. Both maintained a beautiful duel in the bike segment, racing wheel by wheel for almost 100 km on the demanding track winding through the steep mountains in the hinterland of Monaco, only a few seconds separated. They started the run at the same time, the course runs partly through the famous Formula 1 circuit, where Moldan finally managed to finish ahead by an excellent performance. Third was Karl Shaw from Great Britain, who was the first triathlete getting out of the water at the Larvotto Beach, in the heart of Monaco. The big favorite Olivier Marceau from Switzerland could not repeat his victory of 2010 due to two crashes.
